Amicalola Falls State Park, named from the Cherokee word meaning "tumbling waters," is the official start of the famous 2,181 mile long Appalachian Trail spanning the east coast of the United Stated from Georgia to Maine, commonly referred to as the AT by hikers and backpackers.
For this difficult 13.6 mile day hike, we'll meet at the top of Amicalola Falls at the Upper Amphitheater/ Hike In Lodge parking lot and hike the Approach Trail from the top of the falls to Springer Mtn. We'll eat lunch and take pictures from the beautiful Springer Mtn overlook, and then hike back to the top of the falls parking lot.
Parking fee, water bottles, snacks, and a small lunch is provided in the cost of the trip.
I would recommend bringing a day pack, two(2) empty nalgenes, and any additional snacks/drinks for this trip. There are two places to filter water on the hike if need be.
The views at Springer Mtn are some of the best in the state and I'm excited to share one of my favorite hikes with anyone looking for an incredible outdoor experience!
