Chris Baker is the founder of OneSeed Expeditions, a global guiding outfitter that uses adventure travel to support entrepreneurship around the world. OneSeed connects travelers with local guides and communities while investing in local businesses through microfinance loans. To date, OneSeed has invested more than $250,000 in more than 500 entrepreneurs in places like Nepal, Chile, and Tanzania.Chris was born and raised in rural West Virginia where the state motto reads “Mountaineers are always free.” While his path has taken him around the world, he’s always felt at home in the mountains. Chris launched OneSeed with a laptop and a crowdfunding campaign in 2010 and has since grown the team to more than 65 guides working across 7 countries.Today, we’re going to learn how Chris’s childhood and world travels shaped his future career, how he built OneSeed Expeditions and the advice he would give to the 18-year-old version of himself.
